FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

 August 16, 2018

LAS VEGAS, NV—Central Recovery Press (CRP), a leading publisher of addiction treatment and recovery books, announces the purchase of author Claudia Black’s remaining titles in print, completing The Claudia Black Library.

In June, CRP acquired the rights to four Claudia Black bestselling titles published by Hazelden Publishing, including, Straight Talk from Claudia Black: What Recovering Parents Should Tell Their Kids about Drugs and Alcohol; Deceived: Facing Sexual Betrayal, Lies, and Secrets; It Will Never Happen to Me: Growing Up with Addiction with Youngster, Adolescents, and Adults; and Changing Course: Healing from Loss, Abandonment, and Fear.

Claudia Black, PhD, best known for her million-copy bestseller It Will Never Happen to Me and her widely read children’s book My Dad Loves Me, My Dad Has a Disease, is the clinical architect at the Claudia Black Young Adult Center at The Meadows. Since the 1970s, her work has encompassed the impact of addiction on young and adult children. Her writings and teachings have become a standard in the field of addiction. She is the recipient of a number of national awards, including the Marty Mann Award, the SECAD Award, the National Council on Alcohol and Drug Addiction Educator of the Year, the 2004 Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Washington School of Social Work, and the 2010 Conway Hunter Award for excellence in the field of addiction.

“I am very excited that Central Recovery Press is able to complete the Claudia Black Library with four of my seminal books,” said Dr. Black, “CRP is genuinely honoring my legacy in the field. I look forward to working with them and toward the development of new products that is befitting our world at this time.”

CRP is best known for publishing exceptional materials addressing addiction treatment and recovery, chronic pain treatment and recovery, and the full spectrum of behavioral healthcare topics. With over 140 books in print, their mission is to shift the prevailing understanding of addiction toward a paradigm of one disease with many manifestations. CRP offers a broader view of recovery to a more diverse audience.

Stuart Smith, president and CEO of Central Recovery, the parent company of Central Recovery Press, said, “CRP is pleased to have the opportunity to add these four titles to our existing Claudia Black Library. Claudia’s pioneering work in the fields of addiction, trauma, and codependency continues to resonate with those seeking help with the disease of addiction, as well as the addiction professionals who treat them. We anticipate more groundbreaking work from this collaboration.”

The Claudia Black Library began in January 2017, with CRP’s purchase of the assets of Mac Publishing, a Washington-based publisher of books, audio materials, and videos written and developed by Claudia Black, PhD.

The Press will release new and revised editions of My Dad Loves Me, Repeat After Me, and A Hole in the Sidewalk in 2018. CRP will publish the first of the four Hazelden Publishing titles with Deceived, a guide to help individuals reflect on the addictive and abusive nature in their spousal relationship, which is scheduled for an updated and revised edition in Spring 2019. Dr. Black’s latest book, Unspoken Legacy is available now.

In total, The Claudia Black Library features sixteen titles, seven CDs, and fourteen DVDS.
