Jennifer Storm Urges Us Not to Forget the Victims
When we were looking for an expert on surviving sexual abuse to contribute to our Jan/Feb 2012 issue, Jennifer Storm proved an obvious choice. Storm, an abuse survivor herself, now serves as executive director of Pennsylvania’s Victim/Witness Assistance Program, and throughout her career, she has been an unceasing voice for victim’s rights. That’s been the case throughout the ongoing Sandusky scandal.
Already the author of three books, Storm has now written a downloadable e-book, Echoes of Penn State: Facing Sexual Trauma, that is available for pre-order. (Storm says all proceeds from the $1.99 cost will benefit crime victims). In it, Storm shares pertinent details of her own experience, offers an educated critique of the handling of the case thus far, and provides resources for readers who might be looking for help. With the Sandusky trial set to start next week, and many of his alleged victims expected to testify, Storm offers a timely reminder to keep them in mind.
